WIA Los Angeles Event Jumps Into “3D” - Nov. 5th

21 10 2009

It was not that long ago when “3D” was a synonym for “cheesy”. You wore geeky glasses to watch out-of-focus genre pictures that tried to generate excitement by making actors jump at the camera. Well, you still need the glasses, but 3D in the 21st Century is a flexible, sophisticated and non-cheesy medium for the latest animation technology. It’s so trendy that studios are going back and turning 2D movies into 3D movies. How does this effect the animation professional who still has to contend with that so-twentieth-century piece of paper?

Find out how to make your portfolio jump into the interviewer’s face on Thursday, November 5th, at WIA-LA’s next General Meeting, In its new home in the Meeting Hall of the snazzy new Animation Guild Building , a panel of producers, animators and evangelists will guide you through the filmmaking of the future, and clue you in on how to be a part of it.

The meeting will be held at The Animation Guild, 1105 N. Hollywood Way in
Burbank, CA, on Thursday, November 5th. Schmoozing and networking begins at
6:30 p.m. and the meeting proper starts at 7:00. Food and soft drinks will be available.

Seating is limited, so please RSVP early. To
RSVP, email lachapterrsvps@aol.com (this is the only address accepting RSVPs: please
don’t email WIA International). Our cutoff For RSVPS is Tuesday, November 3rd. Non-members
will be asked for a $10.00 donation; members are free.

Come Join Us at WIA’s Annual Meeting Featuring MJ Lallo

2 06 2009

As you know by now, WIA’s Annual Meeting is upon us and we are thrilled to be hosting you on the roof of Cartoon Network’s Burbank offices.  It promises to be a wonderful night, but be sure to bring a jacket as it can be chilly and flat shoes because it is a roof top.

This year’s meeting will highlight a spirited program of Voiceover talent, reminding us all of the contribution good comedy can make to the success of a project.  Our own MJ Lallo will be entertaining and informing us, along with a few of her friends.

It is also our desire to encourage the membership to recognize how our many talents can be used to lift the spirits of those less fortunate.  We are looking forward to announcing several opportunities for the members of WIA to join in day long events with both children’s and elderly organizations.  We have seen first hand how these events can encourage healing, talent, and stories to be told.  Our hope is to create a format that all of our chapters can use to interact with charities in their local markets.

As always, we will be presenting the State of the Organization, the vote results from our current Board of Directors election, and maybe even a surprise or two!

So join us. You must RSVP as space will be limited.  Contact us at wia@womeninanimation.org to be added to the attendee list.

We look forward to seeing you at Cartoon Network!
