Q: What is Women In Animation, Inc.?

Women In Animation is a professional, non-profit organization established in 1994 to foster the dignity, concerns and advancement of women who are involved with any and all aspects of the industry and art of animation.

Q: Who belongs to Women In Animation?

Women — and men — who are working professionals in the art and business of the animation industry, along with students studying animation.

Q: Can men join?

YES! Currently, 30% of our membership are men.

Q: What do I get for my membership?

Q: What are some of the activities of Women In Animation?

Each area has different kinds of activities, but the basis for all activities is to inform our members about the state of the business and provide the opportunity to network with other professionals. Some area events include: The Saloon Salons (New York), Quarterly General Meetings with Panel Discussion and Screenings (Los Angeles), Art Exhibits (North Carolina & Philadelphia), Career Seminars (Los Angeles) and Guest Speakers and Animation Screenings (all areas).

The international organization also directs programs such as the Phyllis Craig Scholarship Fund, Sue Kroyer’s Draw Well and Crayons for Kosovo projects and projects with UNICEF and other non-profit organizations. Women In Animation encourages special interest group participation such as our Writer’s Group, Computer Animation Group, Voice Over Group and Production Managers Group. What&’s more, if we don’t have a group that meets your needs we will support you in creating it! That’s what we are here for.

Q: How can I join?

Just fill out our membership form completely and send it in with a check payable to Women In Animation, Inc. You can mail it to: P.O. Box 17706, Encino, CA 91416-7706. Please allow 6 weeks for processing of memberships.


You can also pay by PayPal or credit card.  To do so, simply send an email to wia@womaninanimation.org and request a PayPal invoice.  You will then be emailed a link which can be used to make your payment.  You do not need a PayPal account to pay by credit card.


Q: Can I get a job or internship through Women In Animation?

We are not an employment agency. Women In Animation creates an environment in which you are enabled to find out information about the industry through networking and educational opportunities. You can however, visit Animation World Network’s Career Connections to search job listings and post your resume. While we cannot guarantee employment or internships of any kind, this free service has proven invaluable to many.
